Week 1 Notes, Homework and Videos
NOTE 1: ALL TRAINING SHOULD BE DONE WITH TRAINING COLLAR, LEASH, OR SLIP LEASH ON.
NOTE 2: DO NOT LEAVE TRAINING COLLAR OR TRAINING SLIP LEAD ON WHEN YOU ARE NOT ACTIVELY TRAINING YOUR DOG.
NOTE 3: BE SURE YOU ARE HOLDING YOUR LEASH CORRECTLY WHEN WORKING, SO IT BECOMES A HABIT.
NOTE 4: EVERYTHING THIS WEEK SHOULD BE DONE IN LOW AND EASY DISTRACTION, UNLESS IT IS TOO VERY EASY. IN THAT CASE, YOU CAN SLIGHTLY INCREASE THE DISTRACTION FOR SIT ON THE DOG FOR INSTANCE.
NOTE 5: THE GOALS ARE PLACES TO WORK TO IN THE FUTURE. IF YOU DON'T MAKE THE GOAL, DON'T WORRY AS LONG AS YOU PUT IN THE WORK TOWARDS THE GOAL. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU CAN CALL OR EMAIL ME WITH ANY TRAINING PROBLEMS THAT COME UP IN BETWEEN LESSONS.
NOTE 6: IF YOU DON'T GET THROUGH ALL THE EXERCISES IN ONE DAY, YOU CAN JUST BE SURE THAT THE EXERCISES YOU DID NOT GET TO ARE DONE THE NEXT DAY.
NOTE 7: TRAINING CAN BE DONE IN SEPARATE SESSIONS. I LIKE TO KEEP MY SESSIONS AT 15 MINUTES IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE DAY (EXCEPT FOR LONG PLACE). OTHERWISE, YOU CAN BURN YOUR DOG OR PUPPY OUT.
NOTE 8: MARKER WORDS ARE GOOD=GOOD JOB KEEP GOING YES=GOOD JOB YOU ARE RELEASED FROM THE EXERCISE AND NO=THAT IS NOT WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR.
NOTE 9: THE MOST IMPORTANT NUMBER IS THE FOUR IN A ROW AT A GOAL NOT THE LENGTH OF TIME YOU TRY TO DO IT. BUILDING EXERCISES UP SLOWER LEAVES LESS HOLES BEHIND IN YOUR TRAINING.

Homework Schedule:
Calming Exercises Behavioral Exercises:
- Sit on the Dog 30 + minutes Goal: To get your dog to lay down on their own steam in five minutes or under.
- Introduction to Place 3 minutes (this only needs to be done once per new place and/or environment) Goal: Just to get your dog familiar with a new place object if necessary.
- Send to Place 5 plus minutes Goal: To get your dog to step on themselves for times in a row for 3 sets in 5 minutes (remember this is just a goal it may take you longer when you start).
- Circle Place 5 minutes or less (when your are just working up to the minute maybe start at 15 reps once you get closer to 30 seconds you could work 5 minutes and then at 1 minute you are just working at getting to 4 1 min circle places in a row) Goal: To be able to perform 4 circle places in a row for one minute in 5 minutes (remember that is just a goal, it may take you longer when you start).
